Speaking to my age? Not really. I started going out at the ripe old age of 14. That’s the sign of a woman who grew up in New Orleans. Anyway, I feel pretty confident when I say this, and I am taking the liberty of saying it on behalf of all women, in all clubs, in all corners of the world. Are you ready? Here it goes:
It is never okay to rub your dick on a strange woman in public. Did you hear me? I’ll say it again: IT IS NEVER OKAY TO RUB YOUR DICK ON A STRANGE WOMAN IN PUBLIC.
I don’t care how much her ass is bouncing, how short her skirt is, or if ALL of her lady bits are hanging out. It’s disgusting and uncalled for. I liken it to dry rape. At least to the extent it was thrust upon me last week, pun intended. I’m not entirely sure what makes men (white, douchey frat boys, to be exact) think that this is acceptable behavior, but I assure you it is not. No woman wants to be dry humped by a stranger.
The next guy that steps to me and does this will be leaving with a permanent case of erectile dysfunction. I kid you not.
Douchey frat-boys, consider yourself warned.
That is all. Have a great day

Yep, just like that. (not really). It’s been a long time coming. One of those all talk–no action deals, you know the drill. Anyhoo…accountability for this sort of thing is the key to success, or so I’m told. As a result, I’ve started this blog and this pinterest board. If you want, you can follow along. I can’t promise to what the contents of the blog will be, but the pinterest board is already loaded with gear, quotes, and images designed to keep me (and you, if you so choose) moving forward on the road to marathon-dom…or whatever it’s called.
happy love day,

Posted: February 10, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: amazon.com, children's books, christy kramer, christy kramer vintage, christykramervintage, giving tree, light in the attic, poems, poetry, shel silverstein, where the sidewalk ends Leave a comment »Once when I was little, I had the great fortune to witness Mr. Shel Silverstein reading his work aloud at an assembly. To read Where the Sidewalk Ends, or A Light in the Attic, or even the Giving Tree is fun it and of itself, but to have it attached to such a great memory makes it all the better. These are some of my favs from Where the Sidewalk Ends, pretty profound for allegedly silly children’s poetry. Enjoy.

Tree House
a tree house, a free house,
a secret you and me house,
a high up in the leafy branches
cozy as can be house.
A street house, a neat house,
Be sure and wipe your feet house
Is not my kind of house at all–
Let’s go live in a tree house.

Magic
Sandra’s seen a leprechaun,
Eddie touched a troll,
Laurie danced with witches once,
Charlie found some goblin’s gold.
Donald heard a mermaid sing,
Susy spied an elf,
But all the magic I have known,
I’ve had to make myself.

Colors
My skin is kind of sort of brownish
pinkish yellowish white.
My eyes are greyish blueish green,
But I’m told they look orange in the night.
My hair is reddish blondish brown,
But its silver when it’s wet.
And all the colors I am inside
Have not been invented yet.

Listen to the Mustn’ts
Listen to the MUSTN’TS, child,
Listen to the DON’TS
Listen to the SHOULDN”TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON’TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me–
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.

Hector the Collector
Hector the Collector
Collected bits of string,
Collected dolls with broken head
And rusty bells that would not ring.
Pieces out of picture puzzles,
Bent-up nails and ice-cream sticks,
Twists of wire, worn-out tires,
Paper bags and broken bricks.
Old chipped vases, half shoelaces,
Gatlin’ guns that wouldn’t shoot,
Leaky boats that wouldn’t float
And stopped-up horns that wouldn’t toot.
Butter knives that had no handles,
Copper keys that fit no locks,
Rings that were too small fingers,
Dried-up leaves and patched up socks.
Worn out belts that had no buckles,
‘Lectric trains that had no tracks,
Airplane models, broken bottles,
Three-legged chairs and cups with cracks.
Hector the Collector
Loved these things with all his soul–
Loved them more than shining diamonds,
Loved them more than glistenin’ gold.
Hector called to all the people,
“Come and share my treasure trunk!”
And all the silly sightless people
Came and looked…and called it junk.

Enter this Deserted House
But please walk softly as you do.
Frogs dwell here and crickets too.
Ain’t no ceiling, only blue
Jays dwell here and sunbeams too.
Floors are flowers–take a few.
Ferns grow here and daisies too.
Whoosh, swoosh–too-whit, too-woo,
Bats dwell here and hoot owls too.
Ha-ha-ha, hee-hee, hoo-hoooo,
Gnoms dwell here and goblins too.
And my child, I thought you knew
I dwell here…and so do you.
And this last one was my absolute favorite as a child, it’s called Sick. It’s kind of the most fitting selection of this entire post, as I have been stricken with the Cedar Fever so popular this time of year in Texas. One hell of a welcome back gift.
SICK
“I cannot go to school today,”
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
“I have a the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash, and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I’m going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I’ve counted sixteen chicken pox
And there’s one more–that’s seventeen,
And don’t you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue–
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke.
I’m sure that my left leg is broke–
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button’s caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle’s sprained,
My ‘pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb,
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow’s bend, my spine ain’t straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear,
I have a hangnail, and my heart is–what?
What’s that? What’s that you say?
You say today is…Saturday?
G’bye, I’m going out to play!”

The images that follow make up the remaining 15%…because sometimes girls just wanna have fun.

Think again. I present to you the case for subtlety (and despite much speculation regarding my personal fashion icon being Audrey Hepburn, the inspiration for 85% of my own closet)...
Behold, Faye Dunaway in Bonnie & Clyde.

Posted: January 9, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: cartography, cartology, christy kramer, christy kramer vintage, christykramer, christykramervintage, directions, maps Leave a comment »A couple weeks back the boy and I were in the car, driving somewhere no longer important. I was asked to be navigator, as we had not been there before and I was able to use the iPhone map without crashing the vehicle. Long story, short: I sent us in the wrong direction. Evidently, the maps are static. I believed them to be customized to my location, giving me personal directions…explains why I get lost so much.
Anyway, my lack of map skills led to these funny statements, enjoy:
Him: “wow, you literally believe the world revolves around you”
Him: “you are so bad at reading maps, you probably think cartography is the act of photographing people doing cartwheels…or shopping carts”
Me: “what is cartography?” Him: “Seriously?”
Fast forward to just now…
Me: cartology
Him: CartoGRAPHY.
Me: Oh. :-/
I went to college, ya’ll. I promise.
until next time,

on new year’s resolutions
Posted: January 3, 2012 Filed under: 2012, goals | Tags: 2012, christy kramer, christykramer, christykramervintage, etsy, goals, new years resolutions Leave a comment »I’m not huge on making new year’s resolutions. I come more from the school of “nip your problems in the bud as you recognize them”, rather than write them down & deal with them next year, or compile a list of all your perceived flaws & attempt to reconcile them overnight. Both to me seem horrible & self-defeating. As such, this is a list of my goals for the upcoming year, not a grocery list of self-loathing.
1.) expand & grow my business by at least 30% before the end of the second quarter.
2.) become reasonably fluent in beginner’s conversational Spanish.
3.) actively be hunting retail/studio space by this time next year.
4.) build a compost bin.
5.) bake edible bread without a bread maker.
6.) explore the Raw Food movement more.
7.) start a balcony-contained urban homestead of sorts.
8.) attend as many live shows & festivals as possible.
9.) master the uphill ATX run well enough to participate in races.
10.) learn a new skill.
11.) experience the awesome waterpark/beer garden ridiculousness that is Schlitterbahn.
12.) resurrect the food blog
13.) eat at all the food trucks in ATX
14.) carpe diem
So that’s what I have so far. I’ll revisit this list again in June, report on my progress & possibly add new items. In the meantime, I’m curious…what’s on your list?
You can leave it in the comments, tweet it at me on twitter @christykramer, or if you’ve friended Christy Kramer Vintage on facebook…write it on the wall
Until next time,
Peace & love
